The Special Victims Unit handles cases of physical abuse, sexual abuse and criminal neglect of persons with disabilities.  The unit receives referrals through the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) and collaborates regarding the investigative process.  The unit has specialized assistant district attorneys, victim witness advocates, and state police troopers who handle the criminal cases involving persons with disabilities.  The unit strives to make the necessary accommodations for persons with disabilities so they can fully participate in the criminal process and are assisted by the work of our victim-witness advocates.
